Are you looking to get your first eBike and are wondering if you even need one? To answer that question, there are two answers.
It is a personal choice:
There is no right or wrong answer if you should get an eBike.
There is no stigma around using an eBike, you're not "cheating" by using one.
Electric bikes are just normal bicycles with a motor if you want to use it. So you can fully use the eBike as a regular bike if you want, you dont even need to use the motor assist.
Now also to that point, if you have one, take advantage of it. Like I said above, you are not cheating if you use one, if you need help on a hill or you just want to cruise around fully on the motor, like a moped, go ahead!
It is a health choice:
Some of us may have grown up on bikes but for whatever reason, are no longer able to bike or bike as far or where we want or you may never have used a bike but would like to start, now that you have this option.
This was the case for me. I grew up on bikes and loved being out and on a bike but about a decade ago, I started having issues with my legs, back and wrists and slowly over time, I started making it less and less distances before my body couldn't do it anymore.
Now with two kids that love to bike, I wanted to be able to be out there with them.
Electric bikes allowed this for me. A low, step-thru eBike corrected my posture, which resolved the back issues, the eBike throttle resolved my wrist issues and the motor assist resolved my leg issues.
