What is right for you, fat tires, road tires, commute tires, off-road or another?

There are now so many different types of tires to choose from, it can be hard to figure out which my be the right for you. There is also the grip on the tires that you need to consider. So what kind are there?
Road - these tend to be skinny tires, with little tread on them. They are meant for higher speed and on asphalt or concrete.
Commute - these tend to be in the mid range for width and the tread meant for most conditions (dry, wet, etc...). They are meant for more of a comfort ride.
Mountain Bike - these tend to be mid to wider tires, with thick, deep treads for grip and traction off-road. These are best suited for off-road, dirt, grass, sand, etc...
Fat - these are the widest tires, usually 3" to 4" wide. They are meant or comfort and grip but can add weight and extra work to move along.
Which is right for you?
If you have an exact purpose in mind for your bike, then you will want to choose based on that (eg: going long distances on paved trails or off-roading in the dirt).
If you dont have a specific purpose in mind, then it is best to go with an all weather grip and either the Commute or Fat tires.
Commute would be best for all around usage
Fat tire would be best for comfort
